Doctor Destiny is an evil scientist who acts as a super-villain and arch enemy to the Justice League. He began his criminal career as the proud inventor of the “materioptikon” - a device that allows him to warp reality based on the fabric of dreams, making him unimaginably powerful. In truth, the device took its power not from the Doctor’s technological skill but from a ruby talisman belonging to Morpheus, Lord of Dreams. Doctor Destiny’s obsessions robbed him of his own ability to dream and he wasted away to a shrunken skeleton. He escaped imprisonment in Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum on numerous occasions to menace the Justice League of America.
